When you decide that it is time to replace your window treatments, including your window blinds, you may find yourself wondering what you can and should do with your old window treatments. Throwing them away seems wasteful, and not every recycling center will take metal or other types of blinds for recycling. As such, you need to find ways that you can reuse your old window blinds so you can get the most out of them. Get to know some of the ways that you can reuse your window blinds and get started as soon as possible to make sure you get the most out of your window treatment changes.
Create A Unique Chandelier
One of the ways that you can reuse window blinds, particularly aluminum or other metal window blinds is to use them to create a unique one-of-a-kind chandelier. This works best with mini blinds. However, you can also use larger blinds for a less intricate design.
You will need to create a bulb holder to hold the light bulb for your chandelier. You can also repurpose one from another lantern or lamp if you would like and just reshape it to suit your needs. If you want to, you could also spray paint your blinds to make your chandelier more colorful before you begin.
You will then need to drill holes in the blinds to assemble the chandelier. Attach the blinds together using rivets and then you can begin to shape and curl your old metal blinds. These curl clusters will all be arranged around the bulb holder until your chandelier is the shape and size that you are looking for.
Use Them For Tasks Around The House
Another way to put your used window blinds to good use is to use them for various tasks around the house. First, you will need to cut some of the blinds into shorter segments. After you have your various lengths cut, you can keep them around for various uses.
If you have herbs or other plants that you would like to identify, you can paint a few of your blinds with chalkboard paint and turn them into reusable posts identifying your plants. You can also use the blinds as straight edges or for various other home improvement and cleaning tasks.
Now that you know a few of the ways that you can creatively reuse your window blinds, you can put them to good use while also enjoying your new window treatments.Share
